On December 15, 2002, Rev. Charles (Charlie) Winkelman was installed as the twenty-first pastor of our church.  Charlie is a “second career” minister, having received his Bachelors in Math & Computing, then working as a software engineer for Digital Equipment Corporation in Massachusetts for 8-1/2 years.  Perceiving God’s call into ministry, he attended Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary where he received His Master of Divinity degree, Magna Cum Laude, in 1992.  His diploma is signed by Billy Graham, founder and board chairman of the seminary and one of Charlie’s heroes of the faith.
Prior to coming here he served for seven years as Assoc. Pastor for Youth and Christian education in Goshen, IN, and before that, for four years as Assoc. Pastor for Youth and Discipleship in Quincy, MA.
Charlie grew up in Canton, Ohio, in “a loving Christian family in which unconditional love was really lived out, and faith in Jesus Christ was shared in word and deed.”   He and his wife, Laura, were married in 1986, and have two adult children, Susanne (married to Tyler Morse) and Matthew (young adult), and a granddaughter, Adalynn.
In his spare time, Charlie enjoys time with his family, singing, reading, drama, racquetball, water sports, carpentry, camp ministry, mission trips, video games, and working on his tree house. He says:

“This is a crucial time in our church’s history, as we fix our eyes on Jesus and run the race before us, seeking to grow in faith and reaching out with the love and truth of Jesus Christ in new ways in our community. With new programs for young families and youth, I’m excited about what God is doing!”
