Salvation

THE SAVING WAY OF JESUS CHRIST  (all verses taken from the Revised Standard Version of the Bible)

God so loved the world that He gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God sent the Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. (John 3:16-17)

All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 3:23, 6:23)

Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)  “There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among people by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)

God shows his love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us(Romans 5:8)

If you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved(Romans 10:9) To all who received Him (Jesus), who believed in His name, He gave power to become children of God. (John 1:12)

Jesus says, “Listen! I stand at the door and knock; if you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to you and eat with you, and you with me.” Revelation 3:20

Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures, He was buried, He was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures, and He appeared to Peter, then to the twelve. Then He appeared to more than five hundred brothers and sisters at one time, most of whom are still alive. (1 Corinthians 15:4-6)

This is the testimony: God gave us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. Whoever has the Son has life; he who has not the Son of God has not life. (1 John 5:11-12)

Jesus said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes Him who sent me has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.” (John 5:24)

What the above Bible verses teach is that God created you, loves you, and wants to have a relationship with you.  But there's a problem.  Each of us has broken God's laws and selfishly gone our own way.  The Bible calls this sin.  Because God is holy and just, He must punish sin.  The penalty for sin is spiritual death, or separation from God.  But because of His great love for us, God sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to live a perfect life and then die on the cross to pay the penalty for our sin.  You can be forgiven for your sins and receive the gift of eternal life by trusting in Jesus as your Savior, and surrendering your life to Him as your Lord.  You can do this in prayer, such as the following:

Dear Jesus, I admit that I am a sinner.  I believe you died for my sins and rose from the dead.  Please forgive me.  I now open the door of my heart to receive you as my Savior and Lord.  Help me to follow you.  In your name I pray, Amen.

If you just genuinely prayed that prayer for the first time, we would love to hear from you, by email or letter.  We encourage you to find a church to attend where the Bible is preached and Jesus is exalted as Lord, pray and read the Bible every day (perhaps beginning with the Gospel of John), and share your faith in Jesus with others you know.  Please feel free to call us (570-398-1909) or email our pastor, Charlie Winkelman (cwinkelman@aol.com) if you have any questions.  God bless you in your new journey of faith!
